Almost right. The Jackrabbits win at 141 and 197 😉

So we're all operating under the assumption that Haines is the guy for Penn State at 157 then? Does that mean Messenbrink is Olyshirt or going 165?

Mesenbrink is currently enrolled, meaning he can't Olyshirt.

Uh I don't think so. Thought he redshirted last year at Cal Bap? WrestleStat shows he already redshirted.

I for some reason read that as Haines.  Haines does.  Mesenbrink does not.

I don't think we see Hendrickson there.

I'm just hopeful we see him this season. That torque was nasty and hopefully just stretched the MCL with no ligament tears. Pure guts for gold and if he is healthy, he is taking home the trophy this year.

Maybe Schultz would answer the call instead of ducking Kerk again?

Not positive on this but I believe the all-star classic is not an official match. I would assume then Haines would be eligible to wrestle in this match and still have his redshirt in tact if that is the route PSU decides to go.

With the new rules Haines could wrestle this and still be able to RS.

It's not an official match, so yes, he'd be eligible to RS.

He has both a normal AND OLY RS available.

Both Messenbrink and Haines certified at "165", so between 157 and 165. Given that neither of them has made the move to get big enough to be a full-feed 165, I'm guessing one of them is taking a RS, and that Facundo will be the 165 this year.

I thought the new redshirt rules were only true freshmen get 5 weigh-ins before it uses a year of eligibility.

I thought so as well.  IIRC a few schools interpreted it differently.

Again, we need clarification on Olympic redshirt rules.  My understanding was you could not be enrolled and Olympic redshirt.  None of the Michigan guys who Olyshirted a few years ago were enrolled for that reason.

If that is the case, then Mesenbrink cannot Olyshirt.  He is enrolled and an 'official' member of the team, since he did certify.
