Looks like it is Emmer's to lose.  Doubt he can get to 217.  So we'll be at least a week before another candidate has a chance to lose the vote on the floor.

Dims are negotiating support for emmer.  One, forget his name but he’s also from Minnesota, has said he’ll vote present if it’s emmer.

Looks like he may need help from Democrats. After Emmer won the nomination 117 - 97 over Johnson the caucus held a roll call vote on Emmer and more than 20 members said they would not vote for him on the floor. Could be posturing. Could be a negotiating tactic. Could be real.

Sounds like Emmer's not close yet.

Emmer looks like he might not make it out of the gate.  He looked almost reasonable to me.  Eventually we'll  probably land back on McCarthy. 

Could be a blessing for him and whatever his agenda actually is.  Won't be encumbered with all those deals he sold his soul for in January.  Not often people get to buy their souls back, and at rock bottom price.

McCarthy. A Speaker from the minority aint ever gonna happen with this Republican party (or probably any party, just about any time).

It's theoretically possible though realistically improbably for Jeffries to get it.  There a bunch of Rs in Biden-won districts, but that takes a lot of courage to cross party lines and most politicians don't have that kind of fortitude.

Amazing to me that so many D's and R's insist on being enemies in politics. Unwilling to acknowledge the obvious fact that they are on the same team and will only succeed by working together... as a team.

It shouldn't be that hard, grade school and high school sports taught us this.

Yet team Blue and team Red keep duking it out in some dumb unwinnable fight, during which we all lose.
