Cue the Radiks and PA/Taiwan's of the world:

Why do you always accuse Russia of cheating?

PEDs don't help! His technique is flawless!

Steroids don't give you better technique!

Taz wouldn't dope, He isn't musclebound!

How dare you suspect Saduleev, he's an all-time great, and really chill!

Saying PEDs don't help is inaccurate.

With PEDs an athlete can train longer and harder while recovering faster allowing them to perfect their technique. The reality of all sports, but especially combat sports, is they wreak havoc on the body. Recovery is a massive part of optimal performance. And PEDs give an enormous advantage there.

If they don't help then by definition they are not PEDs, correct?

Snyder did not beat the defending world champ to win his first title???

CAS imposes four-year ban on Gadisov | United World Wrestling (uww.org)

From what I understand from reading the attached article he will still be considered the "defending WC" - he will be stripped of medals won after 8/6/15 t0 8/5/19 - not his 2014 world title.I believe he retired not to much after that loss.

Whatever happened to Khuzin anyway? He fell off the map before the last forum died. Coach J should send him a link to this message board

I like the retroactive punishment, but not convinced it is a deterrent.

I surfed around a bit when this was posted and ran across this stat.  When Lance Armstrong was finally exposed as a doper, they would have been forced to drop all the way to 23rd to get to someone that never tested positive for PEDs.

Well I have looked at some of these foreign wrestlers over the past number of years, and I have been a little suspicious. And we all know that Russia has been in trouble before for state sponsorship of doping so I wonder who else is going to test positive.

A term such as  "state sponsorship" probably does not go far enough (though I have been known to use it).

"State mandated" is likely more accurate.

As a Burroughs fan, I’m still bitter about a Geduev. I believe there about a 99% chance he was doping, and that there’s about a 99% chance JB wins Olympic gold in 2016 if he wasn’t!

I wasn’t super into international wrestling at the time of the 2016 Olympics; why do people think Geduev in particular was a doper?

As opposed to all Russians?  He beat Burroughs.  (and he just looked ridiculous)

That is all I can think of.

I’m not usually one for just throwing around accusations, but I think Russia has earned the suspicions. Check out pics of him from the Olympics and then pics of him later. It’s just really hard to believe a Russian wrestler looking like that is all natural especially when he seemed to begin to look a lot more natural after the doping scandals broke.

I watched his match with JB and thought they both looked jacked.

I’m very much of aware of the Russian state sanctioned doping program. My neighbor works for USADA and we’ve had some interesting conversations about that. I’m just wondering why Geduev seems more suspect than others on the Russian team.

Prob because he beat JB.  JB is still actively complaining that Geduev was doped to the gills. That keeps it out that.(JRE podcast)

I wouldn’t say he’s that much more suspect than other Russians. I think all Russian athletes in that time period, earned the suspicion. However, when you look like Geduev did, it also raises some questions. JB is ripped for sure, but Geduev looked unworldly.

Plus @Interviewed_at_Weehawken hit the nail on the head that he’s still on USA fans radar because of how it affected Burroughs. He’s not going to let that go because it really affected his legacy. Some other (alleged) cheaters may be forgotten, but not ones that have monumental impacts like that.

I'm pretty sure they went mostly "off" the next year, as 2017 was a down year for them.  Probably looking to gain back some degree of legitimacy.  When they saw how they looked in 2017 it was back "on" for a much improved 2018.

JB would have to beat Yaz to get that gold, who did beat Gedeuv in the finals. I would favor JB in that hypothetical matchup, but no way 99%
