Should Penn State try to get a transfer 125 pounder for this season?

With the unfortunate injury to Robbie Howard Penn State is yet again without a solid starting 125 pounder.  The team may be good enough to win NCAAs anyway, even without a qualifier at 125 pounds...but should Cael try to dial-up the transfer portal and land a national qualifier level 125 pounder?

I would propose going local...seeing if Anthony Noto at Lock Haven wants to bring his talents to State College.  He won't be dethroning Spencer Lee (but then again, no one can) but he can at least make nationals and score some team points.

At the moment it doesn’t look like they will need points from 125. So why bring someone in.

Are you suggesting they recruit an active starter off another team's roster after the start of the season?

No need to dabble in the dark art of tampering (or Inappropriate contact) regarding Noto.  Also, I seem to recall reading about a Wisconsin wrestler and one needing to have entered the portal by a certain date.

Even if Penn St illegally tampered with someone's active roster a transfer surely wouldn't be eligible to compete for a new team this season?

 

PSU just gotta roll the dice with Steen. They will be fine regardless.

You are more optimistic than me, good sir.  I have a hard time seeing him break .500 in the regular season.
