2023 World Wrestling tournament...

D3 for LU

Recommended Posts

Dake's challenge at the end of match should have been the whole sequence starting @18 seconds left.

@16.5 seconds Sidakov's knees are down and feet out of bounds.

@16 seconds he pushes into Dake, knees are off mat and feet are still out of bounds.

Should have been 1 for Dake (red step out), and a restart in center of mat?

Taylor has always been someone who pours it on dating back to college. Dake always won closer matches. This isn't a new development. Internationally, Dake can overpower guys with underhooks and chest wraps, but isn't as dynamic offensively as Taylor.

Except when they wrestle each other of course

If his knees are down he's considered to be grounded and no step outs called.

He doesn’t push into him he darts back in for a low shot. I think you may be on to something.

You can say this and believe it … even though it isn’t true. Go for it.

Too bad it’s objectively true.

Everything in this match was in Dake’s favour, the stars aligned, and still he lost. Not sure he would have made the finals through Sidakov’s side.

Kilty with the quick tech.

Snyder up in about 5.

Seems like a lot of wrestlers have made unnecessary adjustments during the tournament. Out of greed or fear, they give up a good position for a worse one. This happens most often with the chest wraps (e.g. Mason defending, Dake on offense). But also with ties. I liken it to Sumo, when a wrestler breaks his grip and attempts to gain another, his foe takes that opportunity to go for the kill.

Another thought: I remember a couple years ago Iran sent a female team to the Grappling World Championships. That was the first ever, and it hasn't happened since. This was in 2015, and they won some medals. They have won a world belt championship--but I don't even know what that is.

Long story short, why aren't they here?

Azerbaijan is 97% Muslim by population, Kazakhstan is 72%, Kyrgyzstan is 83%, Turkey is 98% Muslim, followed by Uzbekistan with 88%. They've sent representatives. So, what's the deal?

The three loudest cheering sections at wrestling events are Iranians, the women at junior duals and drunk Hawkeye fans. This would be a way to combine two of those groups to make an invincible group of superfans.
