I'm glad Tom Brands has seen the light

Recommended Posts

With the addition of All-Americans Jared Franek and Michael Caliendo, both from NDSU, Tom Brands is doing the right thing.  For years he refused to "recruit over" his own guys but now he sees that the game has changed and it's all about stacking talent, like Cael and Penn State have been doing.

It wasn't enough to land the 3 Ferraris, or to have guys like Siebrecht, Kennedy, Brands and Assad already on the team.  They went after elite, proven AA level talent in Franek and Caliendo.  Let the best man win the spot, regardless of incumbent status, blood relations or other accolades.

By making this move the Brands have ensured a true challenger to Penn State next year.  It will be an actual race at NCAAs in 2023-2024.

Bravo, Tom.

Now he can go back to having true “Iowa Style” practices with three hours of live wrestling followed by two hours of buddy carries up CHA steps. When you have this much talent, who cares if you burn out and injure your starters by Christmas.  Next man up!

Can you please do the math to show how it will be a race next year?

I'll help you out.  Barring injury  PSU will out place Iowa @

133, 149, 157, 174, 184, 197, & Heavyweight

The returning points are like 140 to 65. Jimmy’s sayin stupid sheet again. I expect Iowa to be within 50, though.

I think Mesenbrink will win the title but if anyone takes him down for 165 it will be Caliendo.  With Carr and O'Toole as outside chances but very unlikely;)

is that a concrete guarantee?

You mean you think a 4th placer can take out an unproven freshman but a returning multiple champ and former champ can’t?

Don’t you know this forum is for serious discussion, not a place for sarcasm?IMG_1844.thumb.webp.1588bdbb4e5bc9a2acb77bfe07068df6.webp
