nhs67
He has been battling injuries this year. I don't think it is HEW. I think him showing up and dominating Gross the way he did shows that. Garrett has been on fire. Even internationally. He was up 8-0 on Desanto before he gassed. He fixed the tank. I still say the ref fucked Desanto there hardcore. That said, Garrett controlled Fix in a sort of manner that Fox typically does. I concede in wanting Fix to go 65 KG or 141lbs. He was small against Garrett. "I know actually nothing. It isn't even conjecture at this point." - me

He was small against Garrett. I didn't see the match. I only read this post on HR in response to similar complaints that the ref screwed DeSanto ( which reminds me of the scene in Shawshank Redemption where Red points out that everyone in prison is innocent. He checks an inmate who says, "I didn't do it, my lawyer screwed me.") _____________________ ??? Garrett got three turns. You don’t put them on their feet when the top man is repeatedly scoring in par terre. On the Garrett TD, Austin got a caution for fleeing the mat. I don’t think the camera angle was good enough to say whether that was the right or wrong call. But the caution meant they go to par terre, which they did with 2:35 on the clock. It was 3-0 Garrett at that point. They blew the whistle and Austin immediately grabbed Garrett’s leg with it gripped for the sole purpose of preventing Garrett from scoring, That’s called negative wrestling and he was properly warned for it. Next Austin did the same thing with Garrett’s arm and again got a warning for negative wrestling. The first scored gut wrench finished with 2:20 on the clock, just 15 secs after they went in par terre and after two warnings for negative wrestling on Austin. Austin then grabbed Garret’s arm again and again got called for negative wrestling. At that point, the ref called a caution on Austin as he had already given Austin two warnings. That was with 2:12 to go. The caution meant a restart in par terre. On the restart, Garrett immediately went to another gut wrench, which he used to score in just 10 secs. He then got another turn that he finished just 15 secs later and the match ended. 2 Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

He simply defended a 4 point move by allowing it to be a 2 point move and out if bounds. That means he would have never been pit down in par terre. The matched should have been started back up at 2-0 and it would have been wrestled entirely different. Now that isn't to say Garrett did anything wrong. He wrestled his ass off today. The hard part is that he goes in a straight line directly out of bounds. Had he turned either direction to try to stay in or made any attempt other than a direct line out of bounds, he probably doesn't get called.

Eagle26
Did you watch Fix in the quarters and semis? He handled two very good wrestlers. Not sure what you were expecting, but he was the 3rd seed and took second. I thought he looked great. Garrett just looked awesome this weekend. From the shit angle we have for replay it doesn't look that way either. Now what he did when placed down? I can't disagree with any of that. The ref warned him more than once and he got another C1 down there. That is on Desanto for breaking. "I know actually nothing. Dark Energy
Not getting the debate. As soon as he dove out I expected the caution. Good call per how I’ve seen called in past.

mspart
Don't know what HEW means, but how does that apply to Fix? All the talk on here is Garrett/DeSanto. Was Fix injured before or after the Garrett match? That poor guy just doesn't get any breaks at all. He needs a Vito moment or two. mspart

Plasmodium
I didn't think Fix looked particularly motivated. His dad wasn't very animated either. Could be HEW, could have been BSB.

I don't want to brag, but reading these forums, I eventually did figure out (prior to this thread) what HEW meant simply through context clues (took me several times seeing it in print to make the connection though!). However, I fail to see what the Backstreet Boys have to do with any of this.

World silver in 2021 to third seed at USA Olympic Trials in 2023 is not what I expect...nor is 4th at NCAAs. It wasn't all that long ago Fix had a killer offense amplified by an insane slide by and inside trip. We also all remember his par terre trapped arm series which seemed unstoppable... And then that all kind of faded away, and it seems now he can only score with counters. Maybe Garrett was unstoppable last week, but I'm not buying it. Fix's last few matches show his defense having holes now, too.

He does seem to have regressed (or more likely stayed stagnant while others improved), but it wasn’t all of sudden this weekend. Based on his recent results, I think he wrestled as well as should be expected.

Fix's last few matches show his defense having holes now, too. Fix was better in 19 than his weak silver in 21. But was the tourney field in 19. He has become a significantly defensive-minded wrestler because everyone knows to watch out for the hook/inside trip and he hasn’t developed a go-to weapon in the interim. He has at least three more years in him to get that resolved but I think a change of scenery and mentality will be necessary. i am an idiot on the internet
