Iowa made the right move with Ferraris / Chittum

Recommended Posts

I know many Hawks fans think the Brands screwed up in losing Chittum but let's lay out the facts:

1. 2 or 3 Ferraris > 1 Chittum

2. Chittum has committed to 3 schools before ever donning a college singlet.  Odds are he switches again.

3. Chittum will be 21 (or older) by the time he wrestles in his first NCAAs.  His upside is limited.

4. Angelo and Anthony Ferrari have higher upside than Chittum.

5. AJ is just icing on the cake - he is immediately the title favorite at 197, yes even over Aaron Brooks.

People are being short sighted in only focusing on losing Chittum (which could have happened anyway).  Once 2 or 3 Ferraris are in the Carver-Hawkeye garage this move by the Brands will be praised as GENIUS.

He's not dumb. He's trolling Iowa.  It's a pretty brilliant troll.  Having read his posts for years, my interpretation, as you may have seen me write is that he's PennSyate fan posing as an Iowa fan who is posing as a Penn State fan.  Layered.

It's definitely the leading theory on Cinnabon.  I question whether he's actually a PSU fan though.  I see it more as he's from Pennsylvania so by default he claims to be a PSU fan but actually is not.  He was a teenager when he started posting on here.  He might still be.  And finally, he needs a girlfriend

Despite this being a troll job, there is some truth to the OP.

If simply the prospect of a single person joining the team is enough to send Chittum packing, he is either hopelessly fragile or had one foot out the door already. Or both.

I suspect blaming Ferrari was just cover for the fact that his spot in the lineup wasn't as secure as some think.

I think you are a few dozen layers too shallow there.

Oklahoma State fan posing as a Minnesota fan posing as an Iowa State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a the Ohio State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a the Ohio State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a Cornell fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a Cornell fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a Minnesota fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as an Oklahoma State fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a Minnesota fan posing as a the Ohio State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as an Oklahoma State fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a the Ohio State fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a the Ohio State fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a the Ohio State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as a Michigan fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a Penn State fan posing as an Iowa fan posing as a Penn State fan.

Throw in a random Iowa State fan for PD3 purposes somewhere in there and you're good.

Why does everyone seem to forget that Anthony =/= AJ or Angelo.  His results aren't anywhere near as impressive and he is given so much credit for being a Focus when he is the smallest and most insignificant of the bunch.  That is why he has a Napoleon complex and needs to bring guns to the table.  He can't match his brothers (or his father for that matter) and he has known that for YEARS.

Add in that he also can't even get in to Iowa right now.  They flagged him at admissions.

Are you new to wrestling and have no idea how toxic this particular family is?  It's not just Chittum.  Reputable sources have been on the record that others on the team might also leave.  There are posters on HR with insider info that have stated that the Ferraris are one of the reasons Nagao didn't choose Iowa.  A lot of Iowa fans need to get their head out of the sand

Which looks like makes him just a plain ole Michigan fan.  😉

So what is even going on with the Ferraris?

I know Spencer isn't a coach but he knew they were recruiting Angelo, but didn't know if they were recruiting Anthony?  I mean even if they weren't "recruiting" him, they had to assume he'd want to go there if Angelo did right?  Spencer seemed really surprised, unless maybe it was just because he hadn't heard of a decision for Angelo.

Is no Anthony confirmed?  Does no Anthony mean no Angelo?

I've combed through HR trying to find who the source is that claimed Anthony was denied admittance but still can't find who.  Lots of posters on their are posting it as a fact.

Dude, I posted the following Ferrari meme. I know they aren't boy scouts.

That being said, for Chittum to leave when it is entirely possible/probable that they aren't even coming suggests his tenure in Iowa City was going to be tenuous at best.

I would assume Iowa's willingness to take Griffith, which would have pushed Kennedy to 157 was as big a consideration. Clearly, if the Brands thought Chittum was the long term solution at 157, they wouldn't be going that route, right?

Chittum can give any reason he wants for leaving. It doesn't mean I have to be so gullible as to take his word at face value.

Chittum's beef with the Ferrari's goes way back to his high school days.  As with many other wrestlers.  Didn't just happen over night.  It's been brewing for years

Chittum was one NLI bag away from not starting next year.

I know the Iowa haters want to think the worst of the Brands but there is more to this than the prospect of the Ferraris joining the team.

No theres not.  Its been reported by actual wrestling sports reporters.  It was the Ferrari's.  Iowa never had a shot with Griffith.  So your 157 Kennedy theory is moot.   Nagao a no go to Iowa also involved the Ferraris and as I mentioned before it's already being reported by wrestling sports reporters that others might follow Chittums path and leave Iowa if the Ferraris come on board.  There's one constant in all of this

Gents could 'gap' year next year without approval, correct?  Meaning they just don't enroll for the fall then apply for transfer at the next available chance?

Next chance is this fall yes?

Well it is also on record from more than just one source that either Virginia Tech or Rutgers (I think VTech) went on the table and told Angelo that they want him only - no brothers at all, period.
