Ragu
There has always been questions surrounding his age everywhere he wrestles. Pretty sure he reclassified more than a few times

Its not that outside the realm of normal. Being from Tennessee i can assure you nobody here has ever "questioned" his age.

Or did he gray shirt the 22-23 season? Then what about the 21-22 season? Edited May 9, 2023 by jchapman Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals. So he will be a 21 year old true freshman.... 19 Spring of 2021....20 in Spring of 2022.... 21 in Spring of 2023 Funny how the 2021 Tennessee State Championship bracket shows him as a sophomore. 1 Sponsored by INTERMAT

JVStateChamp
I am not sure I fully understand the obsession with Chittums age, I have never heard of such a debate and uproar about the age of someone. I think the age of these high-level wrestlers may continue to be on the older side as holdbacks are becoming more popular. Just not sure of the relevance of his age. Probably because they are older and more mature so there is always a theory that they were dominant in high school due to physical maturity. As they enter college, this physical maturity advantage will evaporate. Therefore, these older freshman are looked at as being more finished products, but probably won't improve as much as an 18 year old freshman.

I can see that argument for sure, is the argument this is an advantage because you are seeing a more finished product or a disadvantage because they will not improve as much? It is very hard to tell which wrestlers will jump levels in college whether they are physically matured or not. I think in general without maturity we are seeing wrestlers at a more finished product before college because of the high levels of coaching that are now available to high school athletes. I did not look at it from that vantage point so I do see the argument for it.
