When did he compete last at 97? Was that like 2021?

This year.  Won his first match then Inj Def out back in January.

I forget which tournament but it was one of the ones that Pantaleo won.

Him taking the Final X route would make him go 92 which is not what he wants this year.   Big decision for him to make here that's for sure.

That is why I hinged it on him making a decision based on injury.

Four options:

1 - He turns down the 92 KG Final X bid.  He is hurt and chances it at 97 KG.  If he wins (wrestlers win hurt all the time) then he has until June 10th to heal up for Snyder.  No chance at 92 KG this route.  If he loses at the Open he can either heal up or try for WTT at 92 KG or 125 KG.

2 - He turns down the 92 KG bid and takes the season off and does not wrestle any weight at the Open or Trials.

3 - He accepts the bid for 92 KG.  This gives him an additional ~6-ish weeks to prepare for whoever wins the US Open.

4 - He accepts the bid for 92 KG.  He requests a continuation which would likely allow him another month or two to heal.

If his injury is more than minor but less than severe, he may go the 92 KG route.

if chittum is going 70kg for trials then there no way he will be 149 in 6 months...

right?

The writing on the wall says that he should be able to, but he did say he would never see 65 KG again.

That is still another 6lbs lighter than 149, but one has to wonder where his Freestyle aspirations are and if they are Olympic Gold Medals, then 157 makes more sense if he is 'never' making 65 KG again.

Also, dropping 6lbs is much different than maintaining striking distance of 149lbs for an entire season

if he cant ever see 65kg then how would anyone expect him to make 49 for a season?

he is a 57er...

i do not want to say what my first thought was seeing him compete internationally a month ago...

Given that he couldn’t make 67kg/147.7 (65kg + 2kg allowance for Ranking Series events) for a single weekend, he’s not making 149 anytime soon.

Moore and Elam in at 92 KG for Freestyle.  I think they both beat Jackson.  Unsure seeding criteria, but Moore is 2-0 on Jackson the last two years, so I imagone he gets the #1 seed.

Hall in at 86 KG.  I think that the only 86 KG guy that has a chance to beat Zahid at the Open is Hidlay.  Unfortunately for him, he can't beat Mark Hall.

Pantaleo in at 70 KG.  I imagine he gets the #1 seed?  That puts Berger and Hidlay on the opposite side?  Good news for Pantaleo for only needing to beat one of them.

Glory and Richards in at 57 KG.

Arujau, Garrett, and NATO at 61 KG.

O'Toole and Gantt at 74 KG.

Parris and Gwiazdowski at 125 KG.

Lovett, Pletcher, McKenna, Henderson, Saunders in at 65 KG.

Labriola, Dieringer, McFadden, Lujan, Kemerer at 79 KG.

Cox and Macchiavello at 97 KG.

Schultzy in at 130 KG for Greco.

When is the deadline to sign up for this?

Deadline for seeding is the 23rd.  Deadline to sign up is night before weigh-ins.

It is a true weigh-in.  Expect a lot of roofers.

Josh Barr entered at 79 KG (~174.2lbs).  If going 184 was the plan for next season at Penn State, then committing to possibly br wrestling the weight class below for the next ~6 months or so might not be the best move?

Also interesting is that I believe he gets the #1 seed here.  He beat Welsh at Freestyle.  Both the match at WNO and PWC were not Freestyle.

That means Barr should be opposite Gabe Arnold too.
