2023 Transfer Portal

Recommended Posts

Tyler Eischens has been removed from the portal and his profile is inactive, as if to indicate he is finished with college wrestling.

Joey Milano, Jon Fagen, Patrick Nolan have been removed from their previous team rostsers, as well as the portal, and are all listed as "unattached"

Man, I thought Eichens would end up somewhere - he could help a team.

Hmmm... didn't find homes or possibly went NAIA?

Josh Humphreys is in the portal for Lehigh as a Grad Transfer after being granted another year.

Apparently he was not yet granted another year, and I don't see how he would.

It seems he's trying to get the 2021 "free year," as he didn't wrestle at all that season.  But he wrestled in 4 conference tournaments and 3 NCAA tournaments (just not the canceled one in 2020).

I’m not sure what his justification would be other than, “Some other people got an extra year.” The guy got four seasons.

Pretty sure we all sort of agreed on this around tourney time as well?

I know it came up.

We thinking Swiderski redshirts for 157 in 24-25 and Ech holds the spot for Johnson?

Could be.  I'm not really sure what the long term plan is.  And looking at Echemendia's profile, I think he still has four full years of eligibility left.  Maybe Echemendia is okay being a room guy and a backup who is ready in case someone get's injured.

ISU board talking more like Ech competing for the 141 job and Swiderski starting this year at 149.

The Swiderski to 157 thing never made sense to me. He’d be a very short 157. Give up a lot of reach.

Going up two weight classes in one offseason would be a tall task but I think Swiderski definitely has the frame to fill into 157 eventually. He is pretty long limbed.

Aside for WNO he ran it at 152 his senior season in HS.  Going 141 nevetlr made sense.

Pretty common.

Carter Starocci wrestled at 182 in HS. Zack Ryder wrestled 189 in HS and just took bronze at 79kg/174lbs at U17 worlds.

He’s roughly the same height as Real Woods, who I don’t consider to be a giant 141.
