2023 Transfer Portal

Fagen is a capable 97. The lighter/ middle weights are going to be scary good and have a lot of depth. Figs, Chlebove, Yas, Vasquez, Larkin, Ramos, Parco and Teemer coming back next year. Lots of talent. I would like to see a long term solution at 65, the last Penn State transfer at that weight didn't work out too well. But if Griffith is available as a grad student for a year why not?

Larkin will be coming in as a freshman, not coming back. Ruiz is probably the 165 answer in another year. Fagan is capable of keeping you in a dual, possibly. But he isnt the answer at 197.

Kerry McCoy was 19-17 as a freshman and DNP at the NCAA Tournament.

You cut him too Jimmy? You know nothing about the sport beyond what you read.

Bartlett wasn’t even a qualifier his first year and 1-2 the next , jimmy would’ve ditched him and he would’ve placed 3rd for someone else

Mizzou lineup next year:

125: Surtin

133: Seltzer

141: Edmond

149: Mauller

157: Mesenbrink

165: O'Toole

174: Mocco

184: Whiting / Hawks / Harman

197: Elam

285: Elam

That's a nice team. I'm eager to see what Seltzer can do after his redshirt.

Arujau has a year left right?  Will he have to transfer out of the Ivies?
I got the impression Vito has zero inclination to continue with folkstyle and that freestyle was and is his focus and that he only did folk because it was an American thing.

I think Penn State needs to upgrade 165.  0-2 BBQ isn't good enough.

A little unfair to blame Facundo for Ramirez getting upset in the first round too.

Vito went to Cornell (or any college) even though he doesn't particularly care about folk because, to paraphrase his own post-match press conference, it's what kids in America do and it's what audiences in America pay attention to. Succeeding in college wrestling is a way to promote yourself, especially in an NIL era. Not to mention that at some level wrestling is wrestling and the competition is high level so you learn from the competition. Plus he has nothing but praise for his college coaches.

Considering he beat Haines 2 straight in the U20 team trials, I certainly think he's in that conversation right now.

I didn't know this. So...all the more impressive.

He is one relentless SOB also. He's NEVER going to lose a match because he's out-worked.

Haines also wrestled three matches before that. Mesenbrink didn’t wrestle any.

Possibly 4 AWA wrestlers in a row  pretty impressive.

With Mizzou bringing back roughly 60 points from this years tourney are they favored to bring home a top three finish in 2024?

If they were able to land Mesenbrink and Seltzer, Edmond continue to develop and provide team points is there any other team besides PSU that should score 60-90 team points?

My question was referring to the college/academics.  Are you saying he only went for wrestling, no interest in academics?
