Imagine the poor officials yelling...."4 pt. pinfall!"  "3 pt. pinfall!"

Top NCAA referee's AAU tourney story shows sad state of sports

And as to archaic, here's a rulesbook from when I was officiating in 1968...was called a fall then, and a newer rules book called a fall now.

EVEN WORSE...."4 point near pinfall" , "3 point near pinfall"......now we're in sore throat territory

At some point I found a 50s rulebook and it said pin fall.

Sure you did 🙄 but didn't say "pinfall" plus look at the author, bet it was Grandpaknownothing.  Not gonna believe you till we see a photo and publication documentation.

Ah ha!!!  it's a "professional wrestling" term.....really don't want it to trickle down into "REAL" wrestling.

Pinfall - Pro Wrestling Wiki - FandomA pinfall, a pin, or a fall (the first term most commonly used in professional wrestling) is a victory condition in various forms of professional wrestling ...

You missed the fine print reference at the bottom:

 * some evidence the original reference from the back woods of Pennsylvania in the mid 60s and the term is occasionally used by wrestling know nothings in current times.

My grandfather was a coal miner in eastern PA, but he can't be talking about me, right?

Easy MM.....his dad, Nate Carr is a good friend of mine....have his number on my phone....I'm cheering for David.  BUT, PINFEST, I like the term, kind of like FanFest.

Get tied on @Fadzaev2

Cowboy Longshot Dustin Plott (who's in my phone), trained by the legendary John Smith (who's in my phone) hits the assassin he learned from Chandler Rogers (who's in my phone) on another underdog, Peyton Mocco, who may be related to Steve Mocco (who I blocked from my phone), in :11 for the 7th straight fall in the 2023 NCAA Finals Pinfest!
