Remove coaches from mat corners

Has it been debated/discussed to keep coaches off the mat corners during live wrestling like FS/GR?  It seems this would be beneficial for all parties.  It is difficult to keep composure will coaching.  Some genetic battle instincts take over when coaching. Discuss

Some coaches are also continuously yapping and impeding the trail ref every time they come into proximity of their corner.  I believe having them in an area where they cannot intimidate or influence the officiating would be beneficial.    It is much more noticeable in the B10 and B12 compared to the ACC or EIWAS.  Way more bricks being tossed and yapping in the midwest sans PSU.

I wonder what Cael's win percentage is on bricks thrown.  He rarely seems to toss one. I'm guessing when he does, he's pretty confident that he saw something different than the refs.  Brands on the other hand, appears to wish he had two, so he could be even more emphatic with his brick barrage.

I think it’s actually Casey who is the main brick thrower for them.

He’s gotta have one of the best percentages out there.

Nice - one word says it all.  There would be other ways to remedy the mentioned problems (warning, then penalty, then ejection?).  Taking coaches off the corner seems far too radical.

And it would be bad for the spectators - one cool thing unique to wrestling is looking at the guys in the corners with Olympic medals and national championships. What's a better visual for the cameras to keep going back to -- the 159-0, gold medal guy with the sculpted physique, or Bill Belichik with his division 3 lacrosse varsity letter and his hoodie?

I think the genetic battle instincts must be a little rusty.

Genetic battle instincts are just that... Genetic.  Some lead battle by screaming and war crying, while others lead with calmness and surgical precision.

Cael prefers to throw chairs when he disagrees with the call/outcome.

Nailed it. His constant stall calls from the corner is rivaling Iowa.  I swear he through like 7 bricks during the Kaylor Courtney match.

Maybe coaching harnesses?  Each coach is required to wear one and they are attached to a solid object that is (fill in the blank) distance from the mat?  After the match the coach unhooks their harness, holds the strap, and walks around the tournament with it on until their next wrestler is up.  Repeat....

Good job addressing a non-problem.

I'd like to hear what Barry Davis has to say.

I take it you are referring to the fact that Davis does not usually want to be in the corner and prefers to jump, sweat, stretch, gesticulate, cheer, curse, or swear with active  mirror neurons from afar and often near the tunnel during NCAA matches when his guys are wrestling.

Just like wrestlers, seems like wrestling's greatest coaches have had a good handle on their strengths and weaknesses.

Some coaches (like Cael) can sit and control it. Others (like Barry) find it helpful to get a little space to work it out.

No judgment at all. Both are obviously great wrestlers and coaches.

As much as I appreciated his fire, I respected Barry's unusual approach. Not every coach needs to be mat side.
