Your thoughts on which colleges should bring back (or start) wrestling?

because the conference they are joining has ALL schools with wrestling.

With schools joining without wrestling.............. COULD it be possible some present schools in the future drop the sport?

Should all the current b10s be required to add men's volleyball and water polo?

4 hours ago, TitleIX is ripe for reform said:

Here's a related thread which analyzes why opportunities for reinstating (or otherwise adding) wrestling teams at the college level here in the USA are seemingly better now than they have been in decades.   This is due to legal reforms of Title IX (and other statutes) that have been increasingly emerging from the U.S. Supreme Court.   Essentially the Supreme Court is saying that statutes are to be taken at face value, and major questions are to be resolved by Congress instead of the bureaucrats.   All that Title IX says is the following.  Notice the lack of gender quotas?

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Too many Colleges have folded Wrestling under the guise of Title9 when in reality that had little to do with it.

But hey, whatever gets the job done.

Women's Wrestling and MMA...both have been great for Men's wrestling.

All of the current schools have softball, will you insist that USC comply?

Because it would be good great for the sport and USC and UCLA will be able to support mens and womens wrestling under their new Big Ten media contract.

UCLA & USC are joining to get the football and basketball money, not to lose more money by adding other profit draining sports.

The University of Louisville - they throw money at all their sports and their facilities across board are top notch. I would imagine they would make a splash hire for coaching and the room itself would be awesome

It would make for some interesting meets for the city with Bellarmine 10 minutes down the road

Wrestling a Big10 team in the YUM would be great too

Old programs brought back:

1.  Washington

2. Oregon

3. LSU

4. Syracuse

5. Eastern Michigan

6.  Notre Dame

7.  Cal Berkeley

8.  BYU

9.  UCLA

New program:

10.  USC

UCLA... because they had a NCAA champ in HWT Fred Bohna.

BYU... they had some notable wrestlers from there.

Notre Dame... for a short while, they made a splash. PLUS had a NJ wrestler from Ridge HS that was an All American in Jerry Durso (8th)

Oregon... just because, they have more than enough money from endorsements from NIKE, and had an NCAA champ Shane Webster in 2006. They dropped wrestling in 2007.

Washington... Larry Owings famed NCAA title over Dan Gable. PLUS they had some hi rated teams in the early 70's. ( I liked their uniforms w/ the 3- striped leg bands. 😎)
