Predicting Penn State at NCAAs

As a dedicated Penn State fan I am very in tune with the Nittany Lions.  Here are my official PRE-BIG 10 predictions for NCAAs.  My predictions likely will change after BIG 10s.

125 - Steen/Vespa.  DNQ.  The Curse of Suriano continues for Penn State for the foreseeable future.  It may take another Bo to break it.

133 - RBY, champ.  He takes out Fix for the third time in the finals.  He's looking healthy, almost bored.  Even a prime Desanto could not stop him now.

141 - Bartlett, 5th place.  Hard to believe he only has one loss, but his lack of offensive production will cost him against guys like Woods and Sasso.

149 - SVN, 7th place.  I am more positive on SVN as of late.  He still can struggle on bottom with elite guys and I find his offense still to be a little too straight on.  Low AA seems like best case scenario for him.

157 - Haines, 3rd.  Haines is looking great but I think he can't beat the 5th and 6th year seniors like AOC who are just too strong and experienced.  I think he is a multiple time NCAA champ in his young career though.

165 - Facundo, 5th.  I think he's better than Barlett but 165 is just a minefield.  I think he will benefit from another year of strength and development.  I see him as a 2x champ.

174 - Starocci, 1st.  It won't be pretty but I don't see anyone at 174 taking him out.

184 - Brooks, 2nd.  Probably my most controversial pick.  I think Hidlay takes him out in the finals.

197 - Dean, 2nd.  In a shock, Warner bests him in the finals and gets sweet, sweet revenge.

HWT - Kerk, 1st.  I think he figures out his pacing and takes out Parris in the finals with a smart, controlled match.

Penn State wins the team title going away. Iowa takes 2nd.

So I'd like to throw out a few senerios. Not saying it'll happen  but for fans sake regarding Penn state.

125 No Aa

133 Rby 2nd

141 no AA

149 no AA

157 Haynes 7th

165 No AA

174 starocii gets beat by Lewis in semis.  Finishes 4th

184 Brooks loses to Coleman in semis finishes 4th

197 dean stumbles.  Finishes 4th

Heavy. Kerk gets beat in semis by Schultz or cass.

Could this debunk Penn state from title? Not saying this is going to happen. But its possible

That is possible, although I feel like that's close to a worst case scenario, barring injuries.

If that happened + Iowa gets champs with Spencer, Woods and Cass, and AA from Teske, Murin, Siebrecht and Kennedy I think they would take 1st.

Nebraska has a higher ceiling than iowa

I think PSU will end up with 9 AA’s - 3 Champs (RBY, Starocci & Brooks) and 2 2nd’s (Brooks & Kerk) and the new kids will place 3-6 ( Bartlett, SVN, Haines & Facundo).

Brooks gets 1st and 2nd?  Impressive.

I haven't read this thread yet but just had to add that if your predictions will likely change after Big 10s, then what good are these?

Only 1 finalist?  No I don’t think that is possible.

How do you figure? Iowa is likely to get all 10 guys to the NCAAs whereas Nebraska is unlikely to qualify at heavy and will have a tough time qualifying all of 133, 149, and 165. Nebraska's range is 6 - 9 qualifiers with 8 probably the most likely.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

If 10 guys qualify and they all go 0-2, how many points do they score.  Its a data problem😉
