1. Anyone that thinks wrestling is homosexual is an idiot. Wrestling teaches one to kick @$$ not........ kiss ass

2 It was the rule " jock or nothing"........ nobody had an issue of that I ever heard of.............. NEVER saw anyone try to wear underware/shorts.

We also had 1/2 hr. weigh ins.

Weigh in and let's go!......oh yeah weigh in drink a bunch of water. THEN let's go.

Nothing gay about working on your hotrod with the boys either:

You're doing too much here bud. I'm not sure what you're inferring here with this very timely video, but isn't that a song about a women wanting a man and a dude just working on a car by himself?

Screw...lets say that's just straight up Gay Porn...

I'm STILL not sure how that'd strengthen YOUR point? Dude, if YOU'RE Gay, that's...fine. Couldn't care less. This weird projection though...that I never get. People always try to project this shit onto other people. Is it insecurity?

Jesus Dude...that car looks like it has tits and vagina's for backseats with the song playing over it by...the whoever Sisters talking about wanting to find a man and...you STILL find some obscure bullshit where someone finds something gay about it?

And I don't have the first goddamn clue what this has to do with Wrestling? I feel like you're trying to normalize being Gay...and we've done that(and done that...and done that...and done that...see if you can find a show without MULTIPLE Gay couples without subscribing to that...Kirk Cameron Godflix thing). If there's a closet you're in, that's fine dude. Seriously...that's ALL on you to decide when you wanna come out of it. Just stop trying to drag EVERYONE else into that same closet.  I mean...I'll say high through the door, but I'm good on my side of it!

The Anger film has nothing to do with wrestling. It has everything to do with the ways macho imagery can be manipulated to suggest deviant gender and sexual attitudes. Obviously, Vision Quest isn't as overtly provocative as KKK, but Becker's film does raise similar questions.

Again, the film is not a documentary. The director made choices about what images to put next to other images, what words next to other words. I like to think about these choices, and the essay that I cited is interesting to me (though I have a couple of strong objections, primarily due to the fact that the author doesn't seem to know much about wrestling). A quick google search reveals a number of other essays with similar theses. Point is, other folks have been seeing simimar things. If you don't, I get it.

Take it easy. I'm out.

So...just curious. You think it was "gay" to point out how ***duck duck goose** huge Shute was?

I'll just finish up with...just because a "lot" of other people wrote similar pieces about Vision Quest...doesn't make it any more ridiculous.

This is just an arrogant, obnoxious, more sophisticated version of "Wrestling is gay, you roll around in tights with guys."

Not much more than that.

Certainly not. Neither was the weigh-in line up. Neither were any individual scenes in isolation. In fact -- again, as the essay was at pains to point out -- Vision Quest is not pushing a gay agenda or some such nonsense. The essay, instead, suggests that the film's protagonist has a curiosity about homosexuality. A poster upthread noted that the book's author had this sort of curiosity in mind when he created Swain. This curiosity is explored through a number of otherwise inexplicable details, i.e. the way Swain shrugs off being proposited, mysterious appearance of the shoes, the Tai Chi warm up, the way the ... errr ... titilating scene with Carla in the tank top embarrasses onlookers while way more reavealing scenes of guys do not, etc. That's it. I have no more to say. If this sort of readibg isn't your cup of tea, so be it.
