He wore it out.   That's my guess.   Is there something more to it?

absolutely not...

i remember when i first heard that in the 90s...

it still impresses more than most things i have ever been made aware of...

That would be a question for Mr "Planned Obsolescence and GDP" that was floating through here lately.

I'm sure he'll tell us it's not as simple as he just wore it through.

Is a guitar more similar to an air conditioner or a banana?  It is gonna blow his mind when he hears a guitar that cost $3.29 mail order from Sears is now worth a quarter million!

That would be a nice change.    Actually I took my dad to US Nationals a few times from 2000-2005 or so.   It was a fun time.   I wrestled in the Veterans a few times.   It was a kick.   I found out those old slow guys were just as fast as me, maybe faster.   Ah how our minds plays tricks with us!!

Willie Nelson is an absolute national treasure.

Now - you may or may not appreciate the sound of his guitar, or you may or may not appreciate his voice. But that's just personal preference.

As a musician, guitar player, songwriter, and performer, his ability is second to no one.

i was never a fan until i saw him live at cain's...

it would have been early 90s...

i had no idea what an actual guitar player he was until then...

that old man played for 3 hours straight no breaks... he was still playing when we finally had enough...

it was a seminal moment for me...
