    Walsh Ironman: Saturday Morning/Afternoon Notebook

    Day two wrestling at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman sponsored by the Chevy Network and Marhoffer Chevrolet started at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time with the quarterfinals in the main gym, to be immediately followed by the semifinals. Consolation wrestling is contested in the downstairs gym.

    Those wrestlers starting the day in consolation had to win two bouts to place, while those in the quarters need one win before losing two bouts to finish within the top eight and get a placement finish. Medal matches for first, third, and fifth place start at 6:00 p.m.

His opponent will be No. 19 Niko Camacho (Bethlehem Cahtolic, Pa.) who earned a 5-3 win over No. 8 Seth Janney (Malvern Prep, Pa.)

    220 - No. 1 Chase Singletary (Blair Academy, N.J.) wins 5-0 over No. 13 Ben Sullivan (National Trail, Ohio), while No. 2 Cohlton Schultz (Ponderosa, Colo.) beats No. 6 Jared Campbell (St. Edward, Ohio) 3-0.

    195 - No. 1 Jacob Warner (Washington, Ill.) and Aaron Naples (Brunswick, Ohio) were both decisive winners in the semifinal round.

    182 - Both semifinals end in major decision with a top five matchup in the final, No. 1 Michael Beard (Malvern Prep, Pa.) vs. No. 5 Travis Stefanik (Nazareth, Pa.) Beard over J.T. Brown (Elyria, Ohio), Stefanik over Kaden Russell (St. Ignatius, Ohio).

    170 - No. 7 Ryan Karoly (Malvern Prep, Pa.) with a 3-1 overtime decision over No. 5 Bryce Rogers (Lake Highland Prep, Fla.). LHP goes 1-3 in the semifinal round, Silva the only winner.     160 - No. 16 Georgio Poullas (Canfield, Ohio) beats No. 20 Erich Byelick (Lake Highland Prep, Fla.) 6-3. No. 12 Andrew Merola (Blair Academy, N.J.) with a 2-1 tiebreaker win over Ryan Thomas (St. Paris Graham, Ohio). Blair running a frontal assault on the team race.

    152 - No. 1 David Carr (Massillon Perry, Ohio) rallies from the grave down for a second straight match. Trailed 8-2 after one and was in deep trouble of a No. 7 Julian Ramirez (Blair Academy, N.J.) attack. Got takedown to the back at end of second, then a takedown and two turns in the third to win 15-9. No. 3 Quentin Hovis (Poway, Colo.) will advance to the final with a 2-1 tiebreaker win over No. 15 Connor Brady (Olentangy Liberty, Ohio).

    145 - No. 8 Josiah Rider (Grand Junction, Colo.) with a takedown in the third period at about :45 left in the bout, beats No. 3 Dom Demas (Dublin Coffman, Ohio) 3-1. No. 4 Sammy Sasso (Nazareth, Pa.) separated the margin with a five point move at the end of the first period in a 10-2 win over No. 10 Will Lewan (Montini Catholic, Ill.)

    138 - No. 18 Cole Matthews (Reynolds, Pa.) with the 8-2 win over Gage Grunden (Defiance, Ohio). Moises Guillen (Perrysburg) beats his second ranked wrestler today, late takedown in the third period to beat No. 9 Grant Aronoff (St. Thomas Aquinas, Fla.) 3-1.

    132 - No. 3 Mitch Moore (St. Paris Graham, Ohio) got the pancake off the elevator at the 1:08 mark against Gary Joint (Lemoore, Calif.). The other finalist is No. 12 Zack Donathan (Mason, Ohio) a 10-4 winner over No. 16 Grant Willits (Pueblo County, Colo.), key move was a four-point elevator.

    126 - No. 1 Spencer Lee (Franklin Regional, Pa.) beats a very game No. 8 Anthony Madrigal (Oak Park River Forest, Ill.) 5-0. Takedowns in first and third periods. No. 4 Joey Silva (Lake Highland Prep, Fla.) late takedown and great mat returns thereafter for a 6-4 decision over No. 6 Jordan Decatur (CVCA, Ohio).

    120 - No. 9 Beau Bartlett (Wyoming Seminary, Pa.) with the late takedown to beat Dack Punke (Washington, Ill.) 3-1. No. 16 Ryan Anderson (Bethlehem Catholic, Pa.) with a statement win over Bryce Andonian (St. Edward, Ohio) 14-6, seven takedowns to none.

    113 - No. 12 Jesse Vasquez (St. John Bosco, Calif.) beats No. 16 Michael Colaiocco (Blair Academy, N.J.) 6-3 on a takedown and near falls at about :05 left in the bout. Gabe Tagg (Brecksville, Ohio) with a second upset on the day as he beats No. 7 Dylan D'Emilio (Genoa) 3-1 in the tiebreaker, reversall in the first portion of 30/30.

    106 - No. 6 Julian Tagg (Brecksville, Ohio) with the 4-3 decision over Mick Burnett (Elyria, Ohio). Tagg takedown with about :05 left in the bout after Burnett scored at the edge on a first period takedown.
