The three-day "Wrestling for a Grater Reason" camp, scheduled for July 23-25, will be held at Rossville High School, 800 Main Street, Rossville, Kan. Clinicians include these Hawkeye mat stars past and present: Sam Stoll, Kris Klapprodt, Perez Perez, Steven Holloway, Mitch Bowman, Eric Luedke, and Tagen Lambotte, along with some additional technicians to be announced.
All proceeds will go to support Cody Lambotte, current Rossville wrestling coach, who was diagnosed with ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, in 2016.
Lambotte wrestled at Rossville High, where he was a four-time qualifier -- and three-time placer -- at the Kansas state championships. He then continued his mat career in college, first at Labette, then at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Lambotte joined the coaching staff at his high school alma mater in 2010, helping to coach 13 state placers and 11 individual state champs.
In addition to gaining expert instruction in wrestling technique and experiencing live wrestling with fellow campers, participants in the "Wrestling for a Grater Reason" camp will receive an official camp t-shirt, free lunch each day, and photos with the clinicians ... all for just $100 per person.
Registration forms are available online.
Completed registration forms -- along with a check for the full amount, made payable to "Falcon Wrestling Foundation" -- must be to Danny Grater, 7310 Redbud Drive, Manhattan, KS 66503 no later than July 10. For questions, contact Danny Grater, Camp Director, at coachgrater@gmail.com or (785) 623-4478.
