Nine UW wrestlers went undefeated on the day, with five earning wins by pin. Junior Collin Cudd (River Falls, Wis.) notched two falls, earning a pin against Dubuque's Jason Francis at 2:23 and UW-Oshkosh's Chris Stratton at 3:30.
At 133 lbs., Zach Tanelli (Short Hills, N.J.) notched a pin over Adam Shumaker of Dubuque at 4:26.
Senior Tyler Turner (Spring Valley, Wis.) and Jake Donar (Cuba City, Wis.) also had wins by fall against Dubuque, with Turner's coming at 6:35 in his match against Hakeem Mahdi while Donar pinned Bobby Larson at 1:57.
Kyle Ruschell (Crittenden, Kent.) and Jordan Hein (Wausau, Wis.) garnered their first Badger wins against Dubuque at 141 lbs. and heavyweight, respectively. Ruschell defeated Dubuque's Dan Ruter 6-1, while Hein earned a 3-0 win over Eric Daughtes.
Against UW-Oshkosh, Dallas Herbst (Winneconne, Wis.) had his first pin of the season against Kyle Coleman at 1:52. Herbst, who wrestles at 197 lbs., led the Badgers last season with 12 wins by fall.
Wisconsin's Mike Metzger (Columbus, Wis.) and Matt Maciag (Sussex, N.J.) continued their winning ways against UW-Oshkosh. At 157 lbs., Metzger defeated Evan Brown of Dubuque 3-0 before earning an 8-2 win over Oshkosh's Dallas Moe. At 174 lbs., Maciag earned two major decision victories on the day. He took down Joe Depew of Dubuque 16-4 followed by Adam Dorner 11-1.
Justin Peterson, of Comstock, Wis., notched a major decision victory as well, defeating UW –Oshkosh's Pat Detmer 14-2 at 184 lbs. Oshkosh's only points of the match were scored at heavyweight as Justin Schmalfeldt slipped by Hein 7-4.
