Wilkes improved to 8-11 overall in dual matches following the two home wins.
The Colonels claimed victories in eight of the ten bouts against Penn College including six extra-point wins and two forfeits. Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson) (157), Justin Morel (Corona, NY/Mt. St. Michael Academy) (174) and John Ritter (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) (184) all scored falls for Wilkes while Josh Evans (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) posted an 18-2 technical fall at 149-pounds. Matthew Grossmann (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) (141) and Jake Dimarsico (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) each recorded major decision wins for Wilkes as the Colonels reached the 40-point plateau for the first time this season. Ashton Gyenizs (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) and Kyle Trout (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) received forfeit wins at 165 and 125 respectively.
Wilkes continued its dominance in the second match of the night against Lackawanna scoring eight more wins including five extra-point victories and two more forfeits. Evans recorded a fall in 3:19 at 149 while Gyenizs also pinned his opponent in 1:54 at 165. Dylan O'Connor (133) and Medrow added technical falls while Ezra Neff (Walnutport, PA/Northern Lehigh) claimed a major decision (8-0) at 141-pounds. Matthew Judge (Eynon, PA/Valley View) earned a 9-2 decision at 184-pounds to round out the Colonel winners as Wilkes reached 40 team points for the second straight match. Lackawanna's lone two wins came at 197 and 285.
Wilkes returns to the mat Saturday, January 20th competing at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by King's College at 10:30 a.m.
