Other winners were Bobby Pfennigs earning the Team Leadership Award; Watterson, Kyle Larson and Travis Gardner sharing the Most Pins Award; Gardner earning the Chad Flack Memorial Award for Most Improved Wrestler; Jake Gonzales the Hardest Worker Award; Tim Patrick earning the Team Impact Award for the newcomer who had the most impact upon the team; and Jamie Rakevich earning the Highest Grade Point Average Award.
Watterson (Enumclaw, Wash./Enumclaw HS), a senior heavyweight, earned All-America honors by placing fourth at the NCAA Championships. He won the Pacific-10 championship and finished the season with a 33-6 record and eight pins.
Larson (Hermiston, Ore./Hermiston HS), a senior 174-pounder, earned the Thomas Award by compiling the best score through a formula using victories, team points scored and grade point average. Larson won the Pac-10 title, came within a win of All-America honors at the NCAA Championships, finished the season with a 31-8 record and five pins, and was named to the Pacific-10 All-Academic first team for the third straight season.
Pfennigs (Great Falls, Mont./C.M. Russell HS), a senior 133-pounder, earned the Team Leadership Award as one of the Beavers' co-captains, placing second in the Pac-10 and qualifying for the NCAA Championships as he finished 23-8 with four pins.
Watterson, junior 141-pounder Kyle Larson (Hermiston, Ore./Hermiston HS) and junior 197-pounder Gardner (Portland, Ore./Parkrose HS) shared the Most Pins Award by recording eight each during the season.
Gardner earned the Flack Award by placing fourth in the Pac-10 and reaching the NCAA Championships, finishing the season 21-11 with eight pins.
Gonzales (Enumclaw, Wash./Enumclaw HS) received the Hardest Worker Award as the sophomore 125-pounder went 12-12 with two pins.
Patrick (Milwaukie, Ore./Milwaukie HS), a freshman 149-pounder, redshirted during the collegiate season and later won the Junior Nationals title in Greco-Roman at 74 kilograms (163 pounds).
Rakevich (Elma, Wash./Elma HS), a senior heavyweight, captured the Highest GPA Award as he earned Pacific-10 All-Academic first team honors.
