The competition started with the 165 pounders, and the Keydets and the Bulldogs traded pins in the first two bouts. Red-shirt junior Neal Richards, ranked #19 at 174 lbs., pinned Kyle Homet in 5:28 for his 17th-straight victory on the season.
Max Gallahan won 4-0 at 184 and Tre Momon earned a 4-2 victory at 285. Derek Shockey won his match at 125 by forfeit and Dom Gallo's 4-3 decision at 141 provided the margin of victory and give VMI its second conference win on the season.
Chris Beck was defeated by a single point and 197 and Zach Schmitt lost just 7-5 at 149.
VMI (3-10/2-2 SoCon) is back in action Saturday at Campbell University for another conference match at 1 p.m.
