    U.S. struggles on opening day of Cadet Worlds

    SNINA, Slovakia -- Day 1 of the 2014 FILA Cadet World Championships produced a tough start for the U.S. Greco-Roman squad, as none of the five competing athletes reached a medal match.

    Columbus, Ohio's Domonick Demas was the star of the day for the U.S. winning his first two bouts impressively at 63 kilos/138.75 pounds, 8-0 over Bulgar Madalin of Romania and 4-4 over Ramon Betschart of Switzerland. Demas's run ended in the quarterfinals when he fell 5-16 to 2014 Cadet European Champion Nikoloz Tchikaidze of Georgia.
