Joe Betterman (60 kilos), Ben Provisor (74 kilos), and John Wechter (96 kilos), all U.S. Open champions, dropped matches in Saturday's first session.
Betterman was thrown and pinned by Ryan Mango, a collegiate wrestler at Stanford. Mango will now meet another college wrestler, Jesse Thielke, in tonight's best-of-three finals.
Provisor, a 2012 Olympian, lost narrowly 1-0 to 2011 U.S. World Team member Andy Bisek. The finals at 74 kilos in men's freestyle will now pit Bisek against Jon Anderson of the U.S. Army. Anderson advanced to the finals with a victory over past World Team member Jake Fisher.
Wechter, who competes for the Minnesota Storm, was upset in the opening round at 96 kilos, losing 10-4 to another Minnesota Storm wrestler, Tyler Lehman. Caylor Williams then defeated Lehman to reach the finals. Williams' finals opponent will be third-seeded Marcus Finau.
Betterman came back to place third in the Challenge Tournament, while Wechter defaulted out of the competition after losing his first match.
Angel Escobedo, seeded fifth, advanced to the finals at 55 kilos in men's freestyle with a 3-1 victory over 2012 Olympian Sam Hazewinkel. Escobedo will meet U.S. Open champion Obe Blanc tonight.

Brent Metcalf, a 2010 World Team member, came from behind to defeat top-seeded Jordan Oliver to advance to tonight's finals at 66 kilos in men's freestyle. Oliver led 3-0 after the first period on the strength of a takedown and pushout. But Metcalf came on strong in the second period, scoring six unanswered points to win 6-3, avenging a loss from the U.S. Open. Metcalf will now battle U.S. Open champion Kellen Russell for a spot on the U.S. World Team.
Top-seeded Clayton Foster, a former Oklahoma State Cowboy, rolled to the finals at 84 kilos in men's freestyle with three technical falls. His victories came over Logan Storley, Enock Francois, and Phil Keddy. Foster will meet Keith Gavin in the finals in a rematch of the U.S. Open. Gavin won that meeting in three periods under the old rules.
Tyrell Fortune was unscored up on in two matches as he advanced to the finals at 120 kilos in men's freestyle. He earned a 7-0 technical fall in his first match over Matt Meuleners in a rematch of the NCAA Division II heavyweight championship match. Fortune then blanked Zack Rey 2-0. Fortune will face Olympian and 2009 World bronze medalist Tervel Dlagnev in the finals.
Victoria Anthony, a two-time Junior World champion and University Nationals champion, was unchallenged in Saturday's first session in advancing to the finals at 48 kilos. Anthony won both matches by technical fall without surrendering a point. Her finals opponent will be Alyssa Lampe. The two met in the U.S. Open finals, with Lame winning 3-0, 5-2, under the old rules.
Top-seeded Erin Clodgo advanced to the finals at 63 kilos in women's freestyle. She will now face World champion and Olympian Elena Pirozhkova in the finals. Pirozhkova won in two periods when the two met in the finals of the U.S. Open.
Tonight's best-of-three finals take place at 6 p.m. CT.
