On Tuesday afternoon, the organizing committee for the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic announced the 13-member Team USA squad for the all-star event to be held on Saturday, March 14. The event in its 45th year is held at the Fitzgerald Field House on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. This year's main event will happen at 6 p.m. and involve two matches at both the 138 and 195-pound weight classes, while absent matches at 113 and 195 pounds due to lack of likely available coverage for either Team USA or Pennsylvania seniors. The undercard bout will start at 4 p.m. and feature wrestlers from the WPIAL against those from Maryland.
Selections for the WPIAL and Pennsylvania teams will come promptly after the PIAA state finals conclude on Saturday, March 7th. The Maryland team will be announced right around that time as their state tournament also takes place that weekend.
