KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team won five of the first six bouts to come away with a road Centennial Conference victory the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 25-13, on Thursday evening. With the victory, Stevens evens its record to 8-8 on the season and 5-3 in conference, while Merchant Marine falls to 6-9 and 4-4. Sophomore Mike Polizzi (Montville, N.J.) continued his dominate performance this season with a pin of Bernard Watson in 2:09. Polizzi staked the Ducks to a 19-0 lead after his victory and is now 22-3 this season with a team-best seven fall wins.

The Mariners recorded their first win at 157 by decision before senior Joey Favia (Brick, N.J.) erased those three points with an 8-2 decision against Jake Walker at 165. Favia heads into the final weekend of the regular season on a 13-match winning streak and is now 23-1.

Merchant Marine trailed 22-3 heading into 174 and closed the gap to 22-13 with a major decision and two decision wins before the heavyweight bout. In the final showdown of the night, senior Brian Schmalz (Colts Neck, N.J.) closed out the match with a hard-fought 2-0 decision over Mason Reed.
