    Stanford signs three recruits

Stanford, Calif. -- Lucas Espericueta, Zack Geisen and Jake Johnson have each signed a National Letter of Intent for Stanford Wrestling and will arrive on The Farm next fall as members of the Class of 2010, head coach Kerry McCoy announced today.

"I'm really excited to have Zack, Jake and Lucas joining our program," noted McCoy. "We are building something special here at Stanford and it shows because we have three great student-athletes signing with us."

Espericueta is a three-sport athlete out of Shafter High School near Bakersfield, Calif.. A three-time state qualifier and two-time Junior National qualifier, Espericueta finished in eighth-place at the state tournament last year while suffering from pneumonia.

Geisen is a three-time state champion from North Valley High School in Grants Pass, Ore. He will join fellow North Valley graduate and 2004 NCAA Champion Matt Gentry as a Stanford Wrestler next fall. Geisen, who owns a 126-7 record heading into his senior season, finished in seventh place at the Junior National Greco Championships last summer and will look for his fourth state title this year.

Johnson hails from Prior Lake, Minn., where he posted a 30-4 record as a junior at Prior Lake High School. He tallied a second-place finish at the state tournament last season and was selected to the Guillotine All-Academic All-State First-Team. Johnson has captained his high school squad since his sophomore year and has been twice named the team MVP
