Sophomore Brennan Patton got things started right away with a clutch 2-0 win at 125 lbs. on the strength of a second period escape and strong third period rideout. After lightweights Tyran Taylor and Dashon Eure won by forfeit at the next two weights, junior returning national qualifier Isaac King came back with a solid major decision win 14-4 on the strength of six takedowns at 149 lbs. to give SAU the 19-0 lead.
Then after a forfeit win by Anderson (1-16) at 157, sophomore Kavoris Perry lost a heart-breaking 6-4 decision in overtime at 165 lbs. He had rallied back to take the lead at 4-3 late in the third as well. Senior Denzel Leggett then extended SAU's advantage to 23-9 with a dominating 7 takedowns en route to a 17-7 major decision win.
Finally, the Fayetteville duo of senior Jared Key and sophomore Tyler Evers, pictured, closed things out for the Knights in exciting fashion with back-to-back second period pins. For Key, he improves to 13-9 on the year with his first fall while Evers improves to 8-12 with his third fall of the season and second straight.
St. Andrews won the takedown battle 20-6 as they recorded their most takedowns in one match all season. Anderson now leads the all-time series 4-3.
St. Andrews, now 6-9 on the year, will remain home to host another Div. II opponent, Limestone College, on Wednesday at 7 pm.
