After Norwich benefited from a pair of forfeits at 125 and 133 to begin the evening, Springfield responded with two-straight wins to climb within 12-7. David Colvin (Old Saybrook, Conn.) notched a 5-3 decision at 141 before Mark Pinto (Milford, Mass.) cruised to a major decision at 149 with an 11-1 win.
The Cadets added six more points to their total with a win by injury default at 157, only to have the Pride close out the dual with five-consecutive victories to earn the four-point victory.
At 165, Ryan Ward (Sussex, N.J.) grinded out a 5-4 decision, Connor Sheehan (Hazlet, N.J.) added three more points for the Pride after he posted a 9-6 victory at 174, and Seve Burgos (Guilford, Conn.) notched a 6-1 win at 184.
Springfield kept the momentum going and earned a one-point advantage and its first lead of the day following Brandon Williams (Framingham, Mass.) 3-2 decision at 197, setting up the decisive showdown at 285. As he has done a number of times this season, Jake Benedict (Pulaski, N.Y.) came through the in the clutch, delivering a 4-3 overtime win to complete the 22-18 Springfield victory.
Springfield will compete in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Championship on Saturday at Bridgewater State.
