Spaid named PSAC Co-Wrestler of the Week

BLOOMSBURG -- Bloomsburg University wrestler Mike Spaid (Perkiomenville/Boyertown) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Co-Wrestler of the Week for the period ending January 16, 2007. He shares the honors with Deonte Penn of Edinboro.

Spaid won all five of his matches while helping Bloomsburg to a 3-2 record at the Virginia Duals. Among those five wins, two came by fall in under a minute. At the Duals, he also won a 3-1 decision over Penn State's Aaron Anspach, who was ranked 13th in the nation.

Spaid, a junior, ran his record to 21-5 for the year. He leads all PSAC wrestlers with 12 pins on the season. In the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association/InterMat Division I wrestling poll, Spaid is ranked 10th nationally in the heavyweight division.

The Huskies are 7-7 overall and will host West Virginia this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
