Leading the way for the Panthers was senior Dan Curley, who pinned his opponent at 174 pounds. PSU also recorded three decisions, three major decisions and a forfeit victory. The Panthers, ranked fifth in New England, improve their dual meet record to 2-3.
After PSU senior Josh Huber received a forfeit win at 125 pounds, Norwich got on the board with a decision by freshman Alex Stewart at 133. The Panthers won the next six bouts, including victories by freshman Josh Thornton at 141, senior Mike Willey at 149, junior Femi Wheeler at 157, junior James Matlack at 165, Curley at 174, and senior Rob Phillips at 184.
Freshman Nick Moore broke the Panther streak with a win for Norwich at 197 pounds, and PSU senior Jake Gagnon wrapped up the match with a victory in the 285-pound weight class.
Plymouth State recognized its 10 seniors prior to the match; the seniors include Curley, Huber, Willey, Phillips, Gagnon, Tom Paolera, Zac Giovanetti, Kyle Graham, Nick Lanchester and Jimmy Tarpey.
Both teams will be in tournament action this weekend, PSU traveling to the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield College and Norwich competing at the Red Dragon Invitational in Oneonta, N.Y.
