Head coach Troy Sunderland and the Lions will get the ball rolling early with the potential of facing No. 8 Lehigh in the Pennsylvania Dual Championships next Sunday, Nov. 13. An early start to the Big Ten season brings No. 15 Wisconsin to Rec Hall on Sunday, Nov. 20, and pre-season conference favorite Michigan to Rec Hall on Saturday, Nov. 26. Michigan enters the season ranked No. 3.
Penn State will visit No. 25 Penn on December 10 before a trip to the Reno Tournament of Champions on December 18. The Lions will visit No. 8 Lehigh on Friday, Jan. 6 and then quickly turn around to host No. 9 Cornell on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Four other Big Ten schools and a Big 12 powerhouse will also face off against Penn State. The Nittany Lions host No. 19 Michigan State on Friday, Jan. 27, and No. 6 Minnesota on Sunday, Jan. 29. Penn State then faces its toughest road stretch of the season, visiting No. 5 Iowa on Feb. 3, No. 7 Iowa State on Feb. 5, and No. 16 Indiana on Feb. 10.
And while the ranked opponents jump out, Penn State four duals against currently unranked opponents are daunting as well and are all on the road. The Nittany Lions visit always-tough Navy on Dec. 9, local rival Lock Haven on Jan. 11, and Big Ten foe Ohio State on Feb. 17. Penn State closes out the regular season with a match vs. Purdue in Indianapolis' Conseco Fieldhouse in an event time to coincide with the conclusion of the Indiana State High School Wrestling Championships.
Penn State will look to prepare for the start of a rugged schedule when it hosts its annual Wrestle-Offs on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Rec Hall. Admission is free.
