    Patrick, Arand win FILA Junior Nationals

    CORVALLIS, Ore. -– Oregon State wrestlers Tim Patrick (Milwaukie, Ore./Milwaukie HS) and Brice Arand (Springfield, Ore./Thurston HS) won national titles at the FILA Junior Nationals earlier this month while representing the Orange Crush Wrestling Club in Las Vegas, Nev. Both won their titles in the Greco-Roman competition, Patrick at 74 kilograms (163 pounds) and Arand at 84 kilograms (185 pounds).

    Patrick also placed fourth in the Freestyle 74-kilogram division. Other OSU wrestlers placing in the meet while part of the Orange Crush were Jon Brascetta (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS), sixth in the Greco-Roman 74-kilogram division; and Dan Brascetta (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS), eighth in the Greco-Roman 64-kilogram division and eighth in the Freestyle 74-kilogram division.

    In his championship round, Patrick beat David Cox of the Golden Eagle Wrestling Club by scores of 3-2 and 1-1 (tiebreaker) in the best-of-three finals. Arand's title came when he beat Michael Kelly of the New York Athletic Club 0-4, 8-5 and 6-0.
