    Ohio hosts West Virginia tonight

ATHENS, Ohio -- If Ohio head wrestling coach Joel Greenlee is going to win his 100th career dual meet Friday night against West Virginia, he is going to need a total team effort, a strong showing against four nationally ranked Mountaineers and a boisterous home crowd to motivate his Bobcats.

Ohio (10-9) will compete in the friendly confines of the Convocation Center for just the third time this season beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday.

West Virginia (4-4) is led by senior Matt Lebe, who is ranked second in the nation at 157 pounds with a 26-2 record this year. The Mountaineers also feature seventh-ranked Brandon Rader at 141 pounds, 11th-ranked David Jauregui at 149 and 13th-ranked Kurt Brenner at 174.

"West Virginia was expected to be really good this year but we haven't seen them enough to know much about them," said Greenlee, whose career coaching record stands at 99-69-4 in nine seasons at Ohio. "Usually we see them at three or four tournaments but this has been a weird year where we really haven't seen them at all."

Junior 184-pounder Brian Cesear (Amherst, Ohio) leads the Bobcats with a 20-12 record this year. Not far behind are 125-pound sophomore Caleb Metcalf (Waterville, Ohio) at 18-13 and 174-pound sophomore Ryan Knapp (McConnelsville, Ohio) at 18-15.

Knapp and junior 197-pounder Nick Terbay (Dayton, Ohio) currently hold the team's longest win streaks at four apiece while Metcalf has won six of his last seven matches.

Friday night's meet begins a special weekend for the Bobcats. A reception honoring former national champion and long-time Ohio head coach Harry Houska will be held Saturday evening at the Ohio University Inn Banquet Room. The free event will begin at 8 p.m. and is open to the public.

The Bobcats will then host Kent State at 2 p.m. Sunday in their home finale. At the meet's midway point, Houska will be presented with a plaque honoring the wrestling room's Harry Houska Wall of Champions, which recognizes all NCAA and Mid-American Conference champions from Ohio University.

"What Harry accomplished at Ohio University is pretty phenomenal because his teams dominated the MAC and did really well in the NCAA Tournament," Greenlee said about his predecessor. "Well over 50 former Bobcat wrestlers are coming back to honor him. Harry really drilled his guys about getting their names on the wall because it meant they were a champion and that became a huge motivation for them."

Admission to both of this weekend's home wrestling duals is free. Live results of both meets will be posted at ohiobobcats.com as they happen.
