On Thursday, South Dakota State received a verbal commitment from Alex Lloyd (Shakopee, Minn), the nation's No. 30 junior by InterMat.
Last season Lloyd compiled a 42-1 record en route to winning a state championship at 145 pounds as a sophomore. In the spring he claimed a Junior National folkstyle title at 145 pounds. In Fargo, Lloyd earned double All-American honors, placing sixth in Greco-Roman and seventh in freestyle.
This fall Lloyd won his third straight InterMat JJ Classic title and earned Outstanding Wrestler honors.
He is currently ranked No. 14 at 152 pounds by InterMat.
