Below is a look at this week's rankings report, which highlights notable results from the past week involving ranked wrestlers in each weight class.
125: No ranked matchups took place this week at 125 pounds, nor did any ranked wrestlers lose. There were no changes to the rankings.
133: South Dakota State's Zach Price went from unranked to No. 13 after getting wins over a pair of ranked wrestlers. Price opened his season with a 7-5 win over No. 11 Matt Schmitt of Missouri before defeating No. 7 Devan Turner of Oregon State. Schmitt dropped to No. 11, while Turner tumbled all the way down to No. 19 after going 0-3 on Sunday. In addition to losing to Price, Turner lost to Schmitt and North Dakota State true freshman Kellyn March, who debuted in the rankings at No. 18.
141: A couple ranked matchups occurred over the weekend, but no results that changed the rankings. No. 16 Allan Hart of Missouri pinned No. 18 Grant Willits of Oregon State. No. 13 Cody Trybus of Navy edged No. 14 Cole Matthews of Pitt in sudden victory.
149: No. 20 Bryce Andonian of Virginia Tech topped No. 9 Joshua Heil of Campbell in the only ranked matchup at 149 pounds. Andonian moved up to No. 13, while the three-time SoCon champion Heil slid down to No. 14.
157: Missouri's Jarrett Jacques, ranked No. 14 last week, picked up ranked wins over No. 13 Jared Franek of NDSU and No. 20 Hunter Willits of Oregon State. Jacques and Franek swapped places in the rankings, with Jacques going to No. 13 and Franek falling to No. 14. Franek also earned a victory over Willits, who stays at No. 20.
165: In the only ranked matchup of the week at 165 pounds, No. 10 Jake Wentzel of Pitt defeated No. 7 Tanner Skidgel of Navy, 5-2. Wentzel moved up to No. 9, while Skidgell fell to No. 10.
174: Kyle Briggs of Division III power Wartburg defeated No. 18 Julien Broderson of Iowa State on Sunday. Briggs posted a record of 26-2 last season and was an NWCA Division III First Team All-American. Broderson dropped two spots to No. 20 in this week's rankings. North Carolina's Devin Kane, who was previously ranked at 184 pounds, will be competing at 174 pounds and comes into the weight class ranked No. 12.
184: Wyoming Tate Samuelson picked up a win over previously ranked Alan Clothier of Northern Colorado and enters the rankings at No. 20. North Carolina's Clay Lautt, who was ranked at 174 pounds in the preseason, will be competing at 184 pounds and is now ranked No. 17.
197: No. 18 Stephen Buchanan of Wyoming earned a 7-2 win over No. 20 Jacob Seely of Northern Colorado in the only ranked matchup of the week at 197 pounds. Buchanan moved up a spot to No. 17. Junior world silver medalist Yonger Bastida entered the rankings at No. 18 after a dominant victory in his collegiate debut. He replaced teammate Marcus Coleman in the rankings. The two are expected to wrestle off for the starting spot.
285: There were a couple ranked matchups at heavyweight with both higher ranked wrestlers winning those matches. No. 8 Zach Elam of Missouri pinned No. 16 Brandon Metz of North Dakota State, while No. 9 Brian Andrews of Wyoming won by major decision over No. 15 Dalton Robertson of Northern Colorado. A.J. Nevills was pulled from the heavyweight rankings. He will not compete in Fresno State's lineup this season after injuring his thumb at Senior Nationals in October, which will require surgery. Army West Point's Ben Sullivan moves into the rankings at No. 20.
Tournament rankings: Not much changed in this week's tournament rankings. Northern Colorado moved into the rankings at No. 24, while Lehigh dropped out of the rankings.
Dual meet rankings: No. 23 Northern Colorado defeated No. 24 Wyoming 24-19 on Sunday. Wyoming dropped out of the dual rankings. West Virginia moved into the rankings at No. 25.
