Missouri remains perfect, tallies ranked wins over ISU, UNI

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- No. 9 Mizzou Wrestling (7-0) continued its dominance to start the 2021 campaign Sunday afternoon with a pair of dual victories over nationally ranked foes. The Tigers opened their day with a 34-6 triumph over No. 20 Northern Iowa, followed by a 31-7 win against No. 10 Iowa State.

Mizzou simply overpowered the Panthers and Cyclones grapplers, winning 16-of-20 overall matches on the day. Five of the Tigers' individual victories occurred against nationally ranked wrestlers, highlighted by 141-pound redshirt junior Allan Hart toppling No. 4 Ian Parker of Iowa State.

Additionally, eight of Mizzou's wins Sunday resulted in bonus points. 165-pound freshman Keegan O'Toole tallied a technical fall and fall in his two victories, while 184-pound redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent produced a fall and major decision.

HEAR FROM HEAD COACH BRIAN SMITH

On the Tigers' dominance over the Panthers and Cyclones…

"We wrestled two really good teams and we won a lot of tight matches. We gutted out some very tough wins. We had guys stepping up across the lineup and getting bonus points. We had guys finding a way to win and that's important this time of the year. We're going to continue to get better and have a lot of things to work on. To walk out of Hilton Coliseum with two ranked dual wins, that's pretty big."

HEAR FROM 141-POUND REDSHIRT JUNIOR ALLAN HART

On his 2-0 afternoon, including triumph over No. 4 ranked opponent…

"It was really good. That first match against Northern Iowa, I got my pace going. In the second match versus Iowa State, it was really huge. He was ranked fourth in the country. I don't like to play into the rankings, because anything can happen on any given day, but beating someone that highly ranked and established was really cool."
