With the regular season title, Mizzou has won either a conference tournament or regular season title in eight consecutive years dating back to its final season in the Big 12. Mizzou won seven of 10 bouts Saturday.
"It's always about team goals and one of our team goals every season is winning the MAC regular season title," head coach Brian Smith said. "It's another trophy in the case, we may need to buy a new trophy case. That's a good thing. It's not an easy thing to always do. We lost a couple years ago to Northern Iowa and that hurt the team. This is always one of our goals in the season and the next one we have is at our conference meet."
At 125 pounds, freshman Dack Punke was tied with CMU's Drew Hildebrandt, 2-2, late in the third period when he nearly scored a takedown at the end of regulation, but ran out of time. In the first sudden victory period, Hildebrandt scored a takedown just 20 seconds in to earn the 4-2 win.
10th-ranked John Erneste earned an impressive pin, his second in as many bouts, as he pinned Deven Perez in just 1:18, using his legs to put Perez's back on the mat to thunderous applause from the crowd.
At 141, third-ranked Jaydin Eierman dominated Drew Marten, tallying seven takedowns, a reversal and a four-point near fall before earning a pin in the third period (5:36), his 10th of the season. That extended Mizzou's lead to 12-3 moving to 149 pounds.
After defeating the nation's No. 8 wrestler Thursday, true freshman Brock Mauller extended his personal winning streak to 12 straight with a 9-5 win over Dresden Simon. That gave Mizzou a 15-3 lead.
Mizzou earned another pin at 157 pounds as true freshman Jarrett Jacques tallied his fourth fall of the season with just 17 seconds remaining in the third period. He held 8-2 lead with more than four minutes of riding time before registering the pin.
Following the intermission, 165-pounder Connor Flynn dominated Bret Fedewa to earn an 18-1 technical fall with just one second remaining in the second period. Luke Fortuna took the mat for Mizzou at 174 pounds and earned a 6-3 decision over Colin Lieber.
Mizzou forfeited 184 pounds and the dual moved to 197 where No. 16 Wyatt Koelling took on Landon Pelham and earned a 5-3 win. At heavyweight, Zach Elam wrestled No. 14 Matt Stencel close into the third period but needed a takedown late to win. Stencel turned an Elam shot into a pin to close the match.
