    Kent State fends off Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Kent State rallied off victories in five of the first seven matches and the Golden Flashes knocked off the Buffalo Bulls 20-17 on Saturday afternoon.

A tech-fall by Andrew McNally and Tim Rooney victory in a battle of top-20 wrestlers to highlighted the six individual victories for the Golden Flashes.

Saturday's dual started at 165 and took the early lead. Andrew McNally answered back with his team-leading 26th victory of the season. He did so in convincing fashion, a 24-4 tech-fall, earning the Flashes a big five points to give Kent State a 5-4 lead. The highlight match of the dual was Tim Rooney vs Derek Spann at 133 as both wrestlers entered the match ranked in the top-20 by many publications. Rooney took control of the match early, controlling riding time and steadily earning points. The fifth-year senior held off a late push by Spann to earn the 6-4 victory.
