The one and only Dan Gable will be the one and only guest on this week's "On The Mat" broadcast Wednesday, March 22.
Gable first made a name for himself as an Iowa state champion wrestler at Waterloo West High School who continued his folkstyle career at Iowa State for an incredible combined record of 181-1. He won the gold medal in freestyle at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany without being scored upon. Gable then joined the coaching staff at the University of Iowa, where, as head coach, he led the Hawkeyes to 15 NCAA team titles.
"On The Mat" is a presentation of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. The show can be heard live on the Internet at 1650thefan.com or locally in Northeast Iowa each Wednesday at 5 p.m. Central on AM 1650, The Fan.
A podcast of the show is available online at mattalkonline.com.
