    Binghamton picks up seventh straight win

    VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton wrestling team recorded their seventh straight win after taking a pair of EIWA wins over Drexel and Hofstra in front of 271 fans Sunday afternoon. Head coach Kyle Borshoff's squad rallied for a 21-20 electric win over Drexel before handling Hofstra 30-14.

    "I think the guys are doing an awesome job," Borshoff said. "We keep getting a little better everyday. We just need to keep focusing on fine-tuning the little things and I think we're going to have a good finish to the regular season and look good rolling into the championships."

  • Five Bearcats went 2-0 on the day. Anthony Sparacio, Vincent DePrez, No. 9 Lou DePrez, Audey Ashkar and Zack Trampe each won back-to-back matches.
  • Sparacio kicked the Bearcats off against Drexel with a 14-4 major decision, his second of the season. The bonus point was one of four over the course of the match.
  • The Dragons took the next three matches to pull ahead 12-4.
  • Vincent DePrez and Lou DePrez combined for eight team points to tie the team score at 12.
  • Drexel won back-to-back matches at 197 and heavyweight to pull ahead 20-12 with two matches to go.
  • Ashkar battled for an 8-5 win over Mininno to pull the Bearcats within five.
    Trampe scored six takedowns over Alex Salas before pinning him at 4:27 to win the match 21-20.

  • Frankie Garcia got his first win of the day with a 9-5 decision over Heller.
  • Hofstra won the next two weights, but a forfeit at 174 pushed Binghamton ahead 15-9. The forfeit was Vincent DePrez's seventh straight win and career win 89.
  • No. 9 Lou DePrez won by fall over Trey Rogers at 1:47 for his second of the season.
  • DePrez has now won his last six out of seven matches by bonus points and his eighth straight. He leads the team with a 22-4 overall record.
  • Hofstra won back-to-back matches at 197 and heavyweight to tighten the team score 21-15.
  • Ashkar came out strong at 125 and pinned Dylan Ryder at 2:48, his second in three matches.
  • Trampe ended the day on a win, taking a 12-2 major over Jacob Martin and a 30-14 win over the Pride.
