Hrunka, the current assistant coach for the Lions and a physical education teacher at North Hunterdon for the past six seasons, is expected to be approved for the promotion at Tuesday's North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional School Board meeting.
Hrunka would replace Tim Flynn who has been promoted to be vice-principal at North Hunterdon.
While at Edinboro, Hrunka was a two-year starter at 174 pounds. In addition to earning three varsity letters for the Fighting Scots, Hrunka was a runner-up at 174 pounds at the 2011 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) championships.
Prior to college, Hrunka wrestled at Warren Hills High in New Jersey, where he was a Hunterdon/Warren, District 1 and Region 1 champ as a senior in 2007.
The wrestling program at North Hunterdon has a long history. The Lions have racked up over 700 dual-meet wins over the years, and will have their 1,000 dual meet at the beginning of the upcoming season.
Established in 1951, North Hunterdon High School is located in Annandale, N.J. The four-year regional high school has approximately 1,800 students.
