Zack Fuentes started the Dragons off with an 8-2 decision over Army's Sean Badua at 125. Franco Ferraina then followed with a 9-6 win at 133 to increase Drexel's lead to 6-0 before a major decision from Kevin Devoy Jr. at 141 bumped the Dragons' advantage up to 10 points. At 149, No. 13 Matthew Cimato secured an 8-4 decision over Javier Rodriguez to put Drexel ahead, 13-0.
Army got on the board first in the 157 match, as No. 19 Russell Parsons Jr. out-matched Mike Comunale for a 16-6 major decision. However, Austin Rose, Nick Elmer, and Stephen Loiseau combined victories in the next three matches to hold Army to just four points through the first eight matches. Rose beat out Army's Andrew Mendel by a 5-3 margin at 165, while Elmer earned an 8-2 decision over Graham Ratermann at 174 and Loiseau picked up a 5-2 win over Samson Imonode at 184.
The Black Knights would score again at 197 as Bryce Barnes edged Nezar Haddad with an 11-7 decision, but then a 5-1 victory from Joey Goodhart in the heavyweight match would seal the deal for the Dragons. Drexel ultimately finished the dual with the advantage, winning by a score of 25-7.
With the victory the Dragons improve to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in EIWA action, while Army moves to 3-5, 2-2 EIWA.
The Dragons will return to action on Friday, Feb. 5 when they are set to host Sacred Heart at the Daskalakis Athletic Center starting at 7 p.m.
