Diakomihalis scored a clutch spin-behind takedown midway through the second period for a 6-2 lead. Officials hit Diakomihalis with a fleeing the hold penalty late in the period to make the final score 6-3.
Diakomihalis becomes the second U.S. wrestler to win a UWW Cadet World title so far this year, joining women's freestyle star Ronna Heaton of South Dakota, who was the champion at 49 kilos/108 pounds on Thursday.
