Senior Nahshon Garrett set the tone in the second match of the night with a second period pin of Noah Arjam and junior Brian Realbuto all but clinched the win with his tech fall victory at 174 over No. 16 Jon Schleifer. Princeton won the final three matches of the night, including two with bonus points, to close strong after falling behind 23-3, but the team score was out of reach after Realbuto's win.
In a battle of league unbeatens wrestling for the second time today, the Big Red didn't wrestle top-ranked Gabe Dean at 184 pounds, instead resting the junior with the match already won. It was the 30th straight triumph over the Tigers and also extended the program's string of consecutive winning dual meet campaigns to 30 dating back to the 1985-86 season.
Dalton Macri got the Big Red off to a great start with a physically dominant 6-1 win over Pat D'Arcy before Garrett pinned Arjam, his eighth pin and 19th bonus point win as part of his 28-0 season. Princeton picked up its only victory of the first half of the dual when Jordan Laster topped Mark Grey 8-4 at 141 before Joey Galasso closed his outstanding day with a 9-7 decision over Mike D'Angelo. Dylan Palacio, who did not wrestle earlier in the day during a 21-9 dual victory at Penn, topped NCAA qualifier Adam Krop 6-4.
Ranked Big Red wrestlers Duke Pickett topped NCAA qualifier Judd Ziegler 10-5 at 165 and Realbuto clinched the Ivy title by taking down and repeatedly tilting 16th-ranked Schleifer on his way to a 17-0 shutout. Princeton won the final three matches, including a narrow 6-3 win for 10th-ranked Brett Harner over Owen Scott at 197, and a pin for Ray O'Donnell over Jeramy Sweany to add on some final points for the home team.
Cornell will get ready to return to Princeton when the EIWA championships begin on March 5-6, as the Big Red will be in search of its 10th straight EIWA title.
