    Bucknell downs Binghamton

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell wrestling team moved to 7-1 in EIWA action, and 6-0 at home, by defeating Binghamton, 25-13, on Saturday at Davis Gym.

After the Bison (8-4, 7-1 EIWA) tied the dual at 13-13 entering the final two bouts, the Bearcats (3-10, 2-8 EIWA) forfeited to the Hartman brothers to cede the dual.

Despite the anticlimactic conclusion, Bucknell and Binghamton's dual was highly entertaining. Six bouts were decided by decision, with four coming by three or fewer points. For the Bison, Jaden Fisher (157) cruised to a 12-4 major decision over Christopher Barker; that was the victory that made it a 13-13 dual.

Matthew Kolonia (149) rallied to defeat Matt Swanson by a 7-4 decision. After Swanson rode out Kolonia for the majority of the second period, Kolonia proceeded to outscore Swanson by a 6-1 margin in the third frame; Kolonia, who started on top, picked up a quick four-point near fall and then a late takedown to electrify Davis Gym.

Drew Phipps (197) energized the crowd early, picking up a commanding 8-1 decision over Sam DePrez to move to 23-5 and 11-1 in dual action; he now needs just two victories to match his career-high total of overall victories set a season ago. Brandon Seidman (125) was Bucknell's other individual victor, dispatching Carson Sauriol by a 5-3 decision.

While Darren Miller (133) suffered his first EIWA dual defeat, dropping to 7-1 on his freshman season, he impressed. Facing off against Zack Trampe, Intermat's 10th-ranked grappler, he took a 5-4 lead with 42 seconds left in the third period on a takedown. Trampe responded with a reversal and two back points to slip away with an 8-6 decision; Miller, notably, earned the riding time point, building up 1:30 of riding time over the course of the bout.

David Campbell (141) fell in a heartbreaker to Anthony Sparacio, giving up a takedown with 17 seconds left in the first sudden-victory frame to drop a 6-4 decision. Brandon Stokes (285) was clipped by Joe Doyle, 5-2.

The Bison are right back to work, squaring off against American at 12 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
