Freshman Matt Gevelinger and sophomores Levon Mock and Jeff Schell recorded three straight pins for the Bears in the first match of the day against Wagner. Also notching six points was freshman Tom Fazio, who earned a pin at 157 lbs. Senior Greg Pace and Lenny Marandino both posted techinal falls at 133 lbs. and 165 lbs. respectively.
Senior Dan Appello won a 3-1 decision in the first bout but Columbia went on to win the next two, a major decision at 141 lbs. and a pin at 149 lbs. Back-to-back wins by Mike Savino and Shawn Kitchner, a 13-5 major decision winner at 165 lbs., even up the score at 10 all. Kitchner is now 17-8 on the season.
Columbia secured the victory by winning the next three matches, including two bonus wins. Mock earned his second victory of the day, a 10-0 major decision while Schell also picked up his second win of the day.
