Brown defeats Duke, falls to NC State

RALEIGH and DURHAM, N.C. -- Senior 184-pounder CJ LaFragola posted a pair of major decisions as Brown University wrestling defeated Duke University, 24-15, and fell to No. 12 North Carolina State University, 29-10, on Saturday at Cameroon Indoor Stadium and PNC Arena respectively.

Concluding their three-match trip to the state of North Carolina and competing in two of the most-recognizable venues in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Bears (2-1) won six of 10 bouts to upend the Blue Devils (2-1) and took three bouts in the setback to the nationally ranked Wolfpack (10-2).

"We had a great win over Duke and competed really hard against a very good NC State program," Brown head coach Todd Beckerman said. "Today was a great opportunity to compete against opponents - and in arenas - that will help prepare us for EIWAs and NCAAs. Overall, we had a really productive trip to North Carolina and are looking forward to hosting our first home duals next weekend."

LaFragola (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.), senior heavyweight Ian Butterbrodt (North Andover, Mass.), and junior 125-pounder Trey Keeley (Washington, Ill.) all went 3-0 on the weekend with LaFragola notching three major decisions.
